Although Christmas calories do not count, you may be looking for some new ideas to get back into shape or lose some weight in 2024!

I thought I would share some of my at-home exercise hits and misses over the years.  Here is my review of  Peloton (of course), Insanity,  Core de Force, T25, and others.

Note, you can stream all of these programs online for a monthly fee; however, owning the DVDs (like I do) is cheaper in the long run.

UPDATE Summer 2023: Peloton still has NOW made its rowing content available on the Peloton App.  Yay! But the app price doubled  Boo!!!

UPDATE 2022:  It finally happened!  Peloton has finally launched its rowing machine!  After the delays caused by the pandemic, they’ve finally done it.  Hooray!! But it costs more than a treadmill. Booo!!!  I’ve reviewed some cheaper options below.

Take a look at this beauty!

The Specs:  Like the Bike and the Tread, the Peloton Rower has  the same type of  touchscreen and will offer classes taught by instructors both in the studio and on the water.  Unlike when the Peloton bike first came on the scene, this time Peloton will face some competition with other connected rowing machines already on the market.

The release of the Peloton Rower is not a shock because as I reported just before the pandemic Peloton acquired Tonic Fitness Technology, a company that has been manufacturing Peloton’s high-tech spin bikes for a bunch of years.  And Tonic had filed a patent application for a high-tech indoor rowing machine with the U.S. Patent Office.

Piecing that all together…

Hi All!

The Peloton Rower has gained a lot of popularity since is launch due to its innovative design and live-streamed classes. However, the Peloton rower can be quite expensive, and not everyone is willing to make such a large investment in their home gym. Fortunately, there are many alternatives to the Peloton rower that provide a similar workout experience at a lower price point. Here are the top 10 alternatives to a Peloton rower.

Have you experienced Hoka yet?  As a 40 something year old mother who loves to stay active with at-home fitness (Peloton, etc.), I know the importance of having the right pair of sneakers.  I’ve gone through so many.   My focus is on comfort and support and that is why Hoka sneakers are now at the top of my list.  At first I thought they looked a little old-ladyish but then I started noticing them on all ages at the supermarket, at Orange Theory, on trips, walks, etc.   I’ve since bought two pair since my discovery and am in love! Hoka is a brand that prides itself on creating shoes that are perfect for runners and fitness enthusiasts of all levels.  There are very many to choose from.  With their unique design and signature thick sole, Hoka sneakers offer superior cushioning and support to help you tackle any workout with ease.…

A departure from my usual Peloton musings.  I wrote the original post 4 years ago when we first visited Disney.  This was trip No. 2 and it did not disappoint.  We loved all the new Star Wars additions and with the kids a few years older, we had more rides at our disposal (for example, The Tower of Terror!).  I have to think that all of my Peloton training helped me walk the 9 miles a day through the parks!  New pictures added.

2017 vs 2021

Post Updated 2021

This is not your typical Walt Disney blog where the author tells you where to stay, where to eat and what rides to take.  There are thousands of those blogs.  (Although we stayed at the Beach Club again).   This blog is all about what to BRING to Disney.  By buying in advance we saved a load of money and it was easier than having to go shopping once we landed or checked-in.  Have fun.  Like they say, Disney World is magical!  We had a great time!

Are you from Boston and looking for that perfect holiday gift?  Then look no further than my husband’s children’s book, Sully the Squirrel Explores Boston.  It is a well-researched, humorous, and beautifully illustrated tour through the great and historic City of Boston told through the eyes of Sully the Squirrel, a curious little squirrel that has a passion for adventure and is nuts for history (get it?)!  Read on for pictures.

If you follow my blog, you know that we are budget DIY enthusiasts.  We created a DIY home-gym out of some empty storage space in the basement, provided tips about a DIY remedy for removing a “Stink in Your Sink” and of course, our DIY Peloton App experience.

Now it was time to turn our attention to our dated maple kitchen cabinets.  We knew when we bought the house that we wanted new cabinets but what we didn’t realize was just how expensive new cabinets could be.  Way outside of our budget.

After months of research, we decided to paint them ourselves.  It was much more work that we ever anticipated but the cabinets came out beautiful and it saved us heaps of money.  We owe it all to some old fashioned hard-work,  elbow grease, loads of patience and of course, this special cabinet paint, but more on that later. I wish I took more pictures but I was usually up to my elbows in paint and dust and it didn’t dawn on me to grab my phone!

Here is a recap of our journey.
